Welbro Win Considerate Constructors Award on First Project
James Sprack, Project Manager on the Unit C1 Maylands Wood Estate Roofing Contract, was delighted to collect a Bronze Award from the Considerate Constructors Scheme at a presentation lunch held in Plaisterer's Hall London. The award was presented to him by Julia Evans the Chief Executive of the National Federation of Builders. Everyone involved with the project was delighted at winning the award, especially as this was the first project that Welbro had undertaken which had been registered under the Considerate Constructors Scheme. The project received a score of 35 out of a possible 40 putting it in the top 7% of the 7800 projects registered under the scheme last year. This made it eligible to be considered for an award and after further assessment it was decided that the project was worthy of a Bronze Award. The scoring system takes 8 aspects of a project into consideration, each worth a possible 5 points, hence the 40 point maximum. The Unit C1 Maylands Wood Estate Project scored 4.5 in most of the 8 aspects: Considerate, Environment, Cleanliness, A Good Neighbour, Respectful, Safe, Responsible and Accountable. Further details of the final score sheet can be seen by clicking here. The assessors were particularly impressed with the way the project had been organised, which allowed the building occupants to continue there HiTec operations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, without interruption, throughout the project, which was the renewal of the roof. They were also impressed by the environmental aspects of the project including the use of grey water in the site cabins and the levels of recycling to reduce waste. They liked the fact that James had contacted a local Building College and had organised the donation of surplus materials and the old insulation for reuse in the college. The client on this project was B-serv, part of Brixton Estates, which has since been acquired SEGRO plc (the Slough Estates Group) and the Welbro party was delighted that Mr. Nick Banton of SEGRO was able to join them to see the award being presented. Mr. Banton was overseeing the project on behalf of the client for its duration and had requested that the project be registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme. There are more details regarding this project in this website under the Welbro News section, "Considerate Welbro in Hemel Hempstead".
