Welbro are committed to an ongoing programme of review and improvement for their Environmental Management System (EMS) which was accredited with ISO 14001 Kite Mark by the BSI*. Our genuine belief in this process meant that a gradutate was employed and given the brief of developing an EMS from scratch to ensure that it had real relevance to our business. This was achieved with generous help from Business Link Hampshire and other organisations. With our core business being the improvement and refurbishment of old buildings we saw that part of our Environmental Policy had to include making our clients aware of the benefits of "Green Technologies" available when considering the options for their building's refurbishment. There are the obvious things like upgrading insulation in the roof and walls and replacing old windows with double glazed This is an ingenious cladding system that is installed over the existing envelope of a building that captures heat escaping from the inside and draws it back into the building along with fresh air warmed by the sun's heat as it passes through tiny holes in the dark cladding. This effectively recycles heat and adds more heat to a building. This reduces fuel costs and improves the carbon footprint of the building. For a more details go to the CA Building Products Website by Clicking Here. There are many other products that include radiant heat capture, photovoltic cells and "green" or "living" roofs that can be used when refurbishing a building to save energy and reduce a company's carbon footprint. Please call us for further details. * In 2011 the decision was made to stop paying the substantial cost for the BSI audit of Welbro's EMS but the system is still in place, being reviewed and improved on a regular basis. The company's commitment to sustainability remains strong but the Kite Mark has gone. Welbro - Building Relationships for a Sustainable Future
